A word about our founder
Debra Mugnani Monroe
A note from Debra:
Hello! I founded Monroe Personnel Service in 1986 because I believed staffing could be done with more care – and forty years later, I still do. I call it care-full staffing: paying close attention to both the client and the candidate, and treating people with respect and professionalism. That approach is what’s built our reputation in the San Francisco Bay Area.
My clients are wonderfully varied – from advertising, marketing, PR, publishing firms to more traditional insurance, legal, healthcare and consulting practices. What they have in common is that they care who’s sitting at their front desk, supporting their executives, and keeping their offices running. So do I.
I’m an attorney by training. I earned my Juris Doctorate from UC Davis and my BA in History and French from UC Berkeley. (I’m an inactive member of the California State Bar.) I speak French, Italian, Spanish, and a skoshi Japanese. Outside the office, I’m a working cabaret singer performing American standards and French repertoire, and an avid Argentine tango dancer; you’ll find me on stage or on the dance floor around the Bay Area when I’m not matching people with the right jobs.
I’ve been fortunate to play active roles in the SF business community over the years – as a panelist on the SF Job Forum, Past President of the California Staffing Professionals’ Golden Gate Chapter, Former President, SF Employers Advisory Council, and I co-chaired the SF Chamber of Commerce’s Women in Business Roundtables. One project I’m especially proud of: as a native San Franciscan, I co-founded SF Generations, which produced the San Francisco Native Jamboree from 2003 to 2012, an annual fundraiser that raised over $14,000 for La Casa de las Madres, Meals on Wheels, and the San Francisco Conservation Corps.
